New parts arrived from Van's from my oops moment a few days before. So nice to be able to order individual parts from the kit piecemeal as opposed to having to start over. So new R-704, R-710, R-405PD and also ordered R-00001 for the counterweight.
Spent the evening trimming R-710 to final shape, fluting R-704, match drilling and deburring all holes.
Notice the difference in my original rudder horn part and the latest version from Van's. My tail kit is from 2011 and so are the parts. The latest version of the R-405 part is now used on every model except the RV-10 I believe. The new version has two extra holes in it for use on the RV-14. So, hmmm.... what to do with these two extra holes?? Fortunately Van's advises building to your plans and in this case, the extra holes can be ignored. Some people have opted to fill them with a rivet which means an extra set of holes in the spar web. Van's says you don't have to worry about them so easy enough.
All parts ready for priming. First chance to use my (now smaller) paint booth in the garage. Parts to be scuffed and cleaned prior to paint.
